AZ Healthy Schools Act 26/27

Posted Date: 07/30/26 (08:24 AM)

🍎 District One and Arizona schools are starting the school year with new nutrition guidelines that support healthier food choices for students during the school day. These guidelines (Arizona Healthy Schools Act (A.R.S. 15-242.01)) apply to foods served, sold, or shared with students at school, including classroom celebrations, birthday treats, club snacks, fundraisers, and rewards.

These guidelines do not apply to personal lunches and snacks brought from home. Students may continue to bring lunches and snacks from home for their own personal consumption; however, those items may not be shared with other students.

We've attached two helpful resources that explain the updated nutrition guidelines and provide examples of popular snack options that meet the new standards. While this is not a complete list of approved items, we hope it serves as a helpful guide as you plan for the school year.

Thank you for partnering with us in following these guidelines. If you have any questions, please contact the District One Child Nutrition Department at childnutrition@yuma.org or (928) 502-4360.
